Dogs are “man’s best friend”. There are hundreds of breeds to choose from. Some are big, some are small, some are timid, some are playful. Did you know that some breeds are natural born hunting dogs? If you are looking for a hunting companion, you may want to look into one of the following breeds.

  1. Coonhound

These dogs have sharp noses and are known for their ability to seek out pests! They will stick with you though any type of weather condition. There is no terrain too rough for these guys!

  1.  Weimaraner

This is a beautiful, elegant breed. They are fast but also calm and quiet. This makes them ideal for hunting birds.

  1. Irish Setter

Getting ready for Thanksgiving? Irish Setters are turkey hunters!

  1. Golden Retriever

Everyone knows that these dogs are a great addition to the family, but did you know that they are also amazing small game hunters?

  1. Bloodhound

Bloodhounds have strong noses and incredible tracking abilities.

  1. Labrador Retriever

Labs have lots of energy and will go to any length to retrieve an animal. Hence the name! Duck hunting is their specialty, but they can help you with any small game.

  1. Pointer

These dogs have a thin coat so if you like to hunt in the wilderness, this may not be the breed for you. If you are bird hunting in an open field, however, the Pointer is a perfect match!

  1. Beagle

Beagles have lots of energy and they are persistent! They have short legs, so its best for these guys to stick to smaller game

  1. Chesapeake Bay Retriever

Water dogs! They are bred for duck hunting. These dogs are very smart and energetic.

  1. American Foxhound

These dogs are up for anything! While they are bred for fox hunting, they will go after anything you tell them to.
